Enhancing immune function (specifically macrophage and T-lymphocyte activity), antioxidant, liver-protective, cardio-protective and anticancer properties, bioavailable, may be a promising adjuvant to cancer therapy to reduce side effects such as fatigue and anorexia in head and neck tumor patients on radiotherapy and chemotherapy, to reduce damage caused to the heart by the potent anticancer drug, doxorubicin/adriamycin and intestinal damage caused by the anticancer drugs 5-FU and methotrexate.
